Blogging is a discipline I have neglected over the last couple of years. When Paul and I first started the business 7 or 8 years ago I was extremely diligent on getting a couple of blogs onto our website every month. Now I get an email from my Digital Marketing guru once or twice a month asking when one can be expected. Writing is something I actually enjoy, my teachers at Aorere College would be belly laughing if they could read this now, but funnily enough I do.
The thing I don't enjoy about the process is trying to come up with something to write about. Business sales is a profession that is always shrouded in confidentiality and NDA's, so it’s difficult to say, ‘last week I sold Business X for $10m to Buyer A! Therefore, Switch Business is great and come and use us because of our experience on this transaction’ - not possible.
So, what can I say? Well I have pretty much sold what was on the books. Just waiting patiently today to see if we have an offer on the last of our sizeable businesses and have a number of franchise areas very close to decision time. And well, that’s all I can say so apologies if it isn't more interesting than that.
One of the reasons I have time to write this blog is the cupboards are looking a little bare. The end of the financial year was last week so it’s the most logical time of the year for someone to look to exit their business. It’s very easy to demonstrate how the business performed last year when that date was a couple of days ago.
So, if you are reading this and the thought of exiting your business has crossed you mind then don't be shy.
